For sale here is a UK Original pressing of arguably Elvis Costello's best album, This Year's Model. This first pressing of 5000 came with a free 7" single featuring the following tracks:

Side A: Stranger In the House

Side B: Neat, Neat, Neat (Live)

This pressing of the album also has a message engraved in the runout vinyl on side one that reads,'SPECIAL PRESSING No. 003  RING MOIRA ON 434 3232 FOR YOUR SPECIAL PRIZE.' This was etched in apparently as a joke by the mastering engineer, George Peckham, (who used the moniker, 'A Porky Prime Cut', on the records he mastered). It apparently really pissed off the admin staff in the Radar Records office who had no idea that this had been done. When you rang that number your name and address was taken and the prize you were sent was a photo of Elvis that had a printed autograph and message from Elvis which read, "I'm Busy In Paradise Right Now." along with a small button badge which sadly is not included with this particular package that I am selling. Only the photo print element of the prize is included.  Please note that this is a PRINT OF HIS AUTOGRAPH AND MESSAGE which Radar had to have printed by Walker Print, whose details are in the bottom right-hand corner of the photo print, to fulfill the expectations of people who rang up as a result of this joke. It is thought that the prize was limited to the first 1000 people who rang up.

CONDITION

Please note that I can only grade visually and therefore cannot confirm if any marks on the records, where present, affect playing in anyway.  

ALBUM CONDITION

Record: The record has retained it's glossy sheen and looks in very good shape.  There are only minor surface marks on tracks 1 and 2 on Side A .

Outer Sleeve: I would grade the outer sleeve as being in very good condition, with some edge wear and minor creasing from handling. The spine is in very nice shape and there are no splits on any of the edges. 

Inner Sleeve: Again, I would grade the inner picture sleeve as very good with a little edge wear but no splits

7" CONDITION

Record: The record has retained a glossy sheen and is again, in very nice condition with just a few pressing pits, for want of a better word, visible but these are not scratches or scuffs just how this single appears to be pressed and shouldn't affect play.

Sleeve: The sleeve has some edge wear but no split and is in good condition.
