BLACK SABBATH Vol.4 6360 071 6360 071 1Y//1 PORKY 1 21 6 6360 071 2Y//1 PECKO 1 2 1 3 Howards Printers slightly textured gatefold sleeve with booklet still intact
Vinyl: looks NEAR MINT, with just a few faint superficial marks, stunning glossy condition, barely played Sleeve: EX very nice example of the first issue gatefold sleeve with VO Price Code on rear ('De Luxe' sleeves are second issue) which has a very slight texture to it so does have some mild foxing here and there, very little wear to edges, some light wear to spine which is still perfectly legible Labels: clean, no stickers or graffiti, superb! (Note: 'Made in England' appears on second pressing labels with 1Y2/2Y2 matrix) Audio: Breathtakingly superb throughout with wonderful tone, dynamic range (especially bass!) and stereo separation. Most of the album plays as MINT! But a detailed track by track description follows:
1. Wheels Of Confusion - super clean initial run in, amazing. Amazing tone! A few very faint ticks on instrumental ending (about 60 seconds from end of track), right back in the music, barely audible - plays as Near Mint, tiny, tiny bit of crackle on fade out
2. Tomorrow's Dream - MINT throughout! Outstanding!
3. Changes - cleanest intro I've ever heard on vinyl. Overall, this album sounds like a loud and very dynamic cut and there's some peak level distortion on Ozzy's vocals, they're that punchy! I think this is the mastering level and not a fault on the vinyl. There's so much dynamic range on this pressing it's incredible. No background crackle at all.
4. FX - Yeah whatever!
5. Supernaut - again, awesome tone, quite fabulous! Outstanding track throughout. Plays as MINT.
SIDE 2 1. Snowblind - lovely clean run in again! One sort of quick scuff/pop in intro, superb tone again! Some faint ticks in the middle section leading into guitar solo and then soon disappear, overall plays as EX+
2. Cornucopia - barest hint of background crackle for a second during intro and again when the song restarts - it's next to nothing at all, but when the rest plays so cleanly, I feel I should point it out. Plays as Near Mint!
3. Laguna Sunrise - slight background crackle here and there, one audible light pop - plays as EX
4. St Vitus Dance - also has a bit of peak level distortion when vocals come in, which is odd as you'd expect it on every track if it was the vinyl - again, just pointing it out for complete clarity, otherwise plays without background crackle and no pops or clicks
5. Under The Sun - near faultless, superb tone (no peak level distortion issues at all) and plays as NEAR MINT, just a couple of background light ticks during middle section, very very slight crackle in run out, very minimal, again pointing out for sake of being totally open and accurate
