Up for sale is a vinyl box set, HISTORIC BROADCAST OF METROPOLITAN OPERA. The Operas are SALOME and ELEKTRA by Richard Strauss. The Salome recording was made on January 19, 1952, with Ljuba Welitch, Elisabeth Hoengen, Set Svanholm, Hans Hotter and Brian Sullivan. The Elektra was recorded on Feb 23, 1952, with Astrid Varnay, Walburga Wegner, Hoengen, Svanholm, and Paul Schoeffler. Both operas conducted by Fritz Reiner.
This is a 4 record box set and includes one large booklet with photos from the performances, plus Librettos with both the original text and the English translation. The records are in pristine condition.
