MOTORHEAD - 'ON PAROLE' - STEREO VINYL LP - 1ST PRESSING  - UNITED ARTISTS - LBR 1004 - 1979

Description

A 33 1/3 RPM stereo vinyl LP, 'On Parole' by Motorhead

The album was originally released in December, 1979 on the United Artists label. It was the band's 4th album release, although it might be argued that it is actually their first.

It was originally recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales between September, 1975 and January, 1976. However, United Artists decided not to release it. It wasn't until after the success of the albums 'Overkill' and 'Bomber' in 1979 that UA eventually released it, allegedly, without the band's permission. The band had changed labels by then and a big chunk of the album had been re-recorded for use on their  'official' debut album 'Motorhead'

This is the only record that featured the original line-up of 'Lemmy' Kilmister, Larry Wallis and Lucas Fox. However Fox left as the album neared completion, to be replaced by Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor who overdubbed all but one of the tracks Fox had played on.

So the line-up was Lemmy  on lead vocals and bass, Larry Wallis on guitars and backing vocals (lead vocals on 'Vibrator' and 'Fools') and Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor on drums. Lucas Fox played drums on 'Lost Johnny'

'Motorhead', 'Watcher' and 'Lost Johnny' (with Mick Farren) Lemmy wrote and recorded with Hawkwind. Wallis  wrote 'On Parole', 'City Kids'  (with Duncan Sanderson, and previously recorded by the Pink Fairies), and 'Vibrator' and 'Fools' (with Des Brown).  Phil Taylor, Mick Brown and Guy 'Tramp' Lawrence are credited with "Iron Horse/Born To Lose". "Leaving Here" is a Holland/Dozier/Holland song.

Produced, engineered and mastered by Fritz Fryer

The sleeve has the band name and title on the front cover with a b&w photo of Lemmy in action. It's made to look like a filing system with 'The Rock File' on the leftmost tab. The back has a full track listing, personnel details and another b&w photo of Lemmy. Photos are by George Bodnar

Track timing are on the labels, except for 'Fools'

Pain, white paper, inner sleeve.
