This is Leonard Cohen's comeback album after he had retired to a monastery to meditate. He came back after his money suddenly disappeared. The break must have revitalised his song writing abilities because this is one of the best albums he ever made (IMHO) - the poetical lyrics, the dark sensual themes, the voice that is deeper and huskier, and some wonderful female backing singers (obviously with a mind to have them around on tour wink wink nudge nudge.) This is a tower of songs!
