.We offer this rare original vinyl recording of T.S. Eliot (1888-1965) reading his poetry, recorded in the Poetry Room ,Harvard College Library in 1933 and 1945 (also 1947). The recordings of modern poets reading their own works was the work of Harvard's Frederick C. Packard, Professor of Public Speaking. This recording includes Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock recorded at Harvard in 1945. According to new research was re-recorded in London in 1947 due to the original being damaged. Other poems include: Gerontion; The Hollow Men; Triumphal March; Journey of the Magi; A Song For Simeon; Difficulties of a Statesman; Fragment of an Agon. From his Collected Poems 1909-1935. We offer this rare original vinyl recording of T.S. Eliot (1888-1965) reading his poetry, recorded in the Poetry Room ,Harvard College Library in 1933 and 1945 (also 1947, see note).  With original white sleeve.
     The  recordings of  modern poets reading their own works was the work of Harvard's Frederick C. Packard,  Professor of Public Speaking.  The first recordings from the 1930's were 78 RPM which limited the recording to shorter poems.
     This recording includes Eliot's The  Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock recorded at Harvard in 1945 but according to new research was re-recorded in London in 1947 due to the original master recording being damaged. Other poems include: Gerontion; The Hollow Men; Triumphal March; Journey of the Magi; A Song For Simeon; Difficulties of a Statesman; Fragment of an Agon. From his Collected Poems 1909-1935.
     This record was released in 1951.  The Harvard Vocarium label was discontinued in 1955. 
     This is a 12 inch long playing (33-1/3 LP) vinyl record with eight readings by T.S.Eliot.  Plain white sleeve as issued.  Light wear, scratches rubbing.  Water spots on side 2.  Overall in good plus condition. Please see our  photos for more details.
