VISUAL:

N (new, sealed, unopened)

M (mint, opened however no signs of use)

NM (near mint, almost new with 2-3 hair lines possible)

EX+ (excellent plus, very clean & shiny with little evidence of play or sleeve removal)

EX (excellent, some light scuffs or hair lines, light marks of sleeve   removal, no scratches)

EX- (excellent minus, lot of hair lines (hair lines are not scratches!), no scratches)

VG+ (very good plus, few superficial scratches & scuffs, general light wear to shellac record)

VG (very good, pronounced wear, lack of gloss, several scratches & scuffs

G (good, pronounced wear, lack of gloss, numerous scratches, but possibly still playable (this grade refers to shellac   records only)

AUDIO:

M (like new, perfect sound)

NM (almost perfect sound with a few light pops possible

EX+ (occasional slight crackles)

EX (slight crackles through)

VG (medium crackles but not overpowered music, no skips, no jumps)

G (high crackles but no skips or jumps)
