BOBBY HEBB

"Sunny"

Early 1966-67 US pressing, vinyl LP

MIS-PRINT: Stated MONO but PLAYS STEREO

<< $3 STANDARD DOMESTIC SHIPPING>>

ALBUM INFO:
This is an earlier US pressing of BOBBY HEBB's debut album"Sunny", first issued by Philips Records, August 1966.
"The title track of Hebb's 1966 smash single, the album also incudes the follow-up, "A Satisfied Mind," also a Top 40 hit that year, but it wasn't until 1971, when Lou Rawls had a Top 20 hit with "Natural Man," did Hebb get another smash.
A pity, and a definite statement about the music industry when a man as prolific and talented as Robert Von Hebb constructs and delivers pop tunes with a voice and feeling that crosses genres and ethnic boundaries. Kal Rudman himself penned the liner notes on the back of the disc (at the time he was R&B Editor of Record World Magazine, a publication still missed by the industry).
Rudman states that "Sunny" hit number one in Detroit and the surrounding area on the R&B, pop, and country & western charts. A monster smash, with covers by Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra with Duke Ellington, Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy."

PRESSING INFO:
This is an earlier MISPRINT pressing from 1966-67 on the black color-bar Philips label BUT ... the labels say "MONAURAL" and issued in the mono jacket but the disc actually PLAYS STEREO.

Comes with original Philips "One World Of Music...." inner sleeve.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

LP was part of a collection that had been in storage 20+ years in a dry, smoke-free environment. It was cleaned using a VPI Cyclone which works into the discs groove to help remove deep, settled dirt and other surface marks, allowing the grooves to breathe for better stylus contact, helping to minimize surface noise.

GOLDMINE STANDARD VINYL CONDITION CODES:

NEAR MINT/EXC: A nearly perfect record. Disc shows no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.

An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. The same for any inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves etc...

EXC- minus: The disc shows some very slight signs of having been played, with very little lessening in sound quality, and barely noticeable, extremely isolated but light surface noise. Labels have minimal spindle marks. The cover and packaging might have slight wear but excellent aspect overall.

VERY GOOD+: A VG+ records show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.

Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK".

The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play.

Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.

VERY GOOD:  Goldmine price guides with more than one price will list Very Good as many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.

VERY GOOD minus- : Any wear n' tear seen in a VG is more enhanced in a VG- disc but not quite to a G+/G rating. The record still plays through without skipping, so it can serve as filler until something better comes along. But it has some obvious surface noise and groove wear. The labels maybe worn, with ring wear, heavy writing, or obvious damage caused by someone trying to remove tape or stickers and failing miserably. A VG– cover has ring wear to the point of distraction, some discoloring/fading, at least 1 seam split and may have even heavier writing, such as, for example, huge radio station letters written across the front to deter theft.

GOOD/GOOD+: Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good+ Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and sometimes visible groove wear.

A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.

POOR or FAIR: The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon. ______________________________________________________________
