ALBUM INFO:
Original US vinyl pressing of BRIAN WILSON's 5th solo album, a completely new production of the infamous Beach Boys project "SMiLE", issued in 2004.

Wilson initially agreed to revisit Smile in the form of a live concert performance as a follow-up to his 2000–2002 tour for the Beach Boys' album Pet Sounds.

From October to November 2003, he worked with keyboardist Darian Sahanaja and original lyricist Van Dyke Parks in assembling a three-movement structure for BWPS while embellishing the material with newly written lyrics and melodies. Wilson and his band premiered it at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 20, 2004.

Motivated by the positive reception, he then adapted the performance as a studio-recorded solo album. None of the other Beach Boys were involved with this re-working of SMiLE, nor with the documentary that covered its making, "Beautiful Dreamer: Brian Wilson and the Story of Smile".

According to Wilson, BWPS re-imagined the original Smile concept "from scratch". Asked for a comparison, he responded that the new version was "different, much different. Much more progressive, much happier, much more uplifting."Parks provided lyrics that had been written in the 1960s but not previously documented, and some that were newly written for the project."

Lyrics and credits printed on the inside of gatefold.

This vinyl pressing includes 4 instrumental bonus tracks (side 4)

GOLDMINE STANDARD VINYL CONDITION CODES:

NEAR MINT/EXC: A nearly perfect record. Disc shows no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.

An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. The same for any inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves etc...

EXC- minus: The disc shows some very slight signs of having been played, with very little lessening in sound quality, and barely noticeable, extremely isolated but light surface noise. Labels have minimal spindle marks. The cover and packaging might have slight wear but excellent aspect overall.

VERY GOOD+: A VG+ records show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.

Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK".

The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play.

Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.

VERY GOOD:  Goldmine price guides with more than one price will list Very Good as many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.

VERY GOOD minus- : Any wear n' tear seen in a VG is more enhanced in a VG- disc but not quite to a G+/G rating. The record still plays through without skipping, so it can serve as filler until something better comes along. But it has some obvious surface noise and groove wear. The labels maybe worn, with ring wear, heavy writing, or obvious damage caused by someone trying to remove tape or stickers and failing miserably. A VG– cover has ring wear to the point of distraction, some discoloring/fading, at least 1 seam split and may have even heavier writing, such as, for example, huge radio station letters written across the front to deter theft.

GOOD/GOOD+: Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good+ Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and sometimes visible groove wear.

A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.

POOR or FAIR: The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon. ______________________________________________________________
