We go to estate sales regularly and come across a wide array of unique and rare items. We add to our growing online inventory daily. We pick up new items from all over the world and all over the US. We also have a growing customer wish list. If you'd like to, feel free to add us to your saved seller's list and let us know what you collect and/or need. We’d be honored to add you to our customer wish list.
We ask what we consider to be a fair price for anything we sell and understand that our idea of a fair price may be someone else's 'that's too much' price. If that's the case, feel free to make us an offer and will consider it. We also have sales regularly, so check back often.
There is always a Sale by TheBay!
We purchased a very large classical and jazz album collection from a former DJ for a local Atlanta area radio station, WBLJ in Dalton, GA, back in the 1950s-1970s awhile back. We bought the collection for the jazz albums, but never got around to listing the classical albums. Almost every album is a radio station promo and they are almost all in exceptional condition with jet black vinyl and many look like they could've been pressed yesterday. We'll be listing them individually and in lots over the coming weeks since it will take awhile to list well over 1,000 albums. If classical vinyl is your thing, feel free to add us to your favorite sellers list and check out our inventory as we add more as often as time permits.
In order to help with soaring prices seemingly everywhere, we will be offering 'pay for shipping on your first album or lot and receive FREE shipping on all other albums, as long as they're made in one purchase and all ship together. We charge a bit more for shipping on lots versus individual albums, so if a lot is included in the purchase, the shipping cost for that lot will be all you pay for shipping.
Also keep in mind that promo albums were among the very first albums to be pressed by the manufacturer, after test albums. These albums were distributed to radio stations to play and promote the album prior to release for sale to consumers. As most record aficionados know, the earlier the pressing, the better the sound quality.
Now onto the item for sale.
For sale is an Aniara An Epic of Space Flight in 2038 A.D. PROMO 2 LP set, released by Columbia Masterworks in 1960.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not play test albums, as that would take us a lifetime to do for thousands of albums. We give a visual description and estimated grade of the vinyl. Please see the pictures above for an idea of the condition of the labels, sleeves and album cover or box, if a box set. If there are any condition issues that you can't see, such as seam splits, scratches or spots on the vinyl, we will indicate that in the description.
As you can see, the albums have jet black vinyl, the labels are impeccable and the album sleeves are in really nice condition with no seam splits on either sleeve. The gatefold album cover is in really nice condition as well with no seam splits. You can see a slight separation of the clear plastic overlay on the front of the cover along the spine and the ends where the albums slide in are slightly curved near the ends.
The vinyl on the albums are extremely clean with less than a handful of very light scratches on all four sides combined. There are some really light marks on the vinyl from being stored for decades that will almost certainly come off with a proper cleaning. We'd estimate these albums to be in excellent condition, but many folks would estimate them to be in near mint condition, particularly after a proper cleaning.
This album will be shipped in a cardboard album box via media mail with the USPS.
Thanks for looking and God bless!
