PATTI SMITH 1975 LP "Horses" Description

Click Image to Enlarge      I've placed up for purchase the first album released by Patti Smith on Arista Records in 1975 titled "Horses". In stereo. Length: 43:10, 8 songs. Catalog #AL 4066. In its original jacket and sleeve. I've owned this since it came out and have not played it. Condition is good, no scuff marks or scratches. This has been stored upright in my album rack in my home. I worked in the entertainment business here in Hollywood and got a lot of records for free. Sometimes duplicates. The jacket is also in good condition, still in its original factory seal, opened at one end. Same good condition with the sleeve inside. Smith has fused rock and poetry in her work. In 1978, her most widely known song, "Because the Night", co-written with Bruce Springsteen, reached 13th on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.      "Horses" was her debut studio album. It was released by Arista Records on November 10, 1975. A fixture of the mid-1970s underground rock music scene in New York City, Smith signed to Arista in 1975 and recorded "Horses" in August and September of that year. She enlisted former Velvet Underground member John Cale to produce the album. "Horses" was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City, with Smith retaining the same backing band with whom she performed live: Jay Dee Daugherty on drums, Lenny Kaye on guitar, Ivan Král on bass guitar, and Richard Sohl on keyboards. "Horses" experienced modest commercial success and placed in the top 50 of the American Billboard 200 albums chart. The author of the "Horses" article at Wikipedia has written an extensive history of the album which is quite interesting. Click here: Payment
