Original United States Test Pressing of this hard to find Blues 78.  Test Pressings were manufactured in very small numbers prior to a record being released to test how a recording sounded when it was transferred from the master tape to a record.  Most of the time only engineers and people close to the project ever received these sample records, and often they were thrown away or destroyed after being listened to.

The record we are offering here has a black and white stock record label reading TEST PRESSING PROPERTY OF COLUMBIA RECORDS.  The matrix number is 6931. The rest of the print is blue and looks like it was made with a typewriter.  One label reads “Raleigh Music Co., BMI, RAIN RAIN RAIN, BIG MAYBELLE with orch. Under Leroy Kirkland”.  The other label reads “Rush Music Co., BMI, GABBIN’ BLUES, BIG MAYBELLE with orch. Und. Leroy Kirkland.”

CONDITION: This 78 retains a considerable amount of its original glossy luster and grades a clean and strong VG.  There are no chips, no cracks, and both labels are in very nice shape.
