First cited in the “Come As You Are” official biography in 1993, the “Fecal Matter” recordings have become legendary in Nirvana collecting circles. Due to the elusiveness of this demo, many have doubted they even existed for years. These rare demo recordings are the first-ever known recordings made by Kurt Cobain (with Dale Crover of the Melvins) during the winter of 1985, 2 years before Nirvana formed. This release includes 8 highly obscure tracks from the original demo (“Sound of Dentage”, “Bambi Slaughter”, “Laminated Effect”, “Insurance”, “Class of ‘86”, “Blather’s Log”, “Downer” & a radio commercial collage) along with 5 obscure tracks from a 1988 home 4 track demo (“Sappy”, “Creation”, Black & White Blues” & “Escalator To Hell”) along with a rousing cover of “Gypsies Tramps & Thieves” from a 1987 band practice. This release features excellent sound quality. This comes housed in a high-quality jacket with full color artwork. Limited edition vinyl pressing of 500. French import.
