Greetings,

Legendary jazz drummer Joe Morello (Dave Brubeck Quartet) was a very close friend of mine.  I had the extreme good fortune of serving as his tour assistant and drum technician for many years.  In addition, I was honored to have served as editor of his wonderful book Master Studies II (Please see the last two pictures).  I have been assisting Joe's widow Jean with placing many of his personal effects in the appropriate museum/library. Mrs. Morello has decided to make a select group of these rare and in some cases one-of a-kind pieces of drumming history available to the public via Ebay.  I will be assisting her in this process.  Each item sold will be accompanied by a personalized and dated letter of provenance hand-signed by Mrs. Morello.  Note that the letter of provenance will be mailed separately to the winning bidder's confirmed Paypal address. Mrs. Morello now lives several states away from me so I will need a few days to get the letters to/from her.  Please note that due to the rarity of these items, I am unable to accept returns.  This is to ensure that the winning bidder is receiving an item directly from Joe's collection.

Up for auction is Gene Krupa and His Orchestra 1946-47 promo copy album that was given to Joe by legendary jazz drummer Gene Krupa.  Jean Morello took Joe over to Krupa's home in Yonkers New York on several occasions in the late 1960s.  Joe and Gene would hang out and practice the drums together.  This record album was given to Joe by Gene on one of those occasions.  It is signed "To Joe,  Thanx for your visit.  Gene Krupa 1927".  I believe that Gene meant to write 1967.  He and Joe used to have a couple drinks when they got together which may explain the 1927.  I am not an expert in grading vintage records and will not attempt to do so here.  However, I will point out the blemishes to the best of my ability.  There is some shelf wear/discoloration on the jacket as well as tears/bends on the corners.  The inner sleeve has some yellowing and there are approximately three fine and shallow scratches on the record itself (They are highlighted in red in the photos).  Please see the photos.  Once again, you are bidding on a Gene Krupa and His Orchestra 1946-47 promo copy album that was given to Joe by legendary jazz drummer Gene Krupa in the late 1960s.  Thanks for looking and best of luck to you.

Regards,

Marvin
