ORK COMPLETE SINGLES 16 X 7" VINYL BOX SET RECORD STORE DAY 2015 RARE! Brand new. Fantastic collectors item!!
This box set collects reissues of every 45 released by Ork Records in the '70s will be released in select independent shops on Record Store Day, April 18. The New York label was co-founded in 1975 by Charles Ball and Terry Ork, and during its four-year run put out singles by over a dozen punk and postpunk artists. Most prominent among them was Television, who were managed by Ork. Before releasing its full-length debut, the classic Marquee Moon, on Elektra, the band introduced itself in 1975 on "Little Johnny Jewel," a seven-minute single divided into two parts. Also Ork's first single, "Little Johnny Jewel" showcased the guitar and distinctive vocals of co-leader Tom Verlaine and quickly sold out its initial 2000-copy pressing. Television's other singer and guitarist, Richard Lloyd, recorded two rarely-heard solo cuts for the label that appear in the box - covers of the Rolling Stones' "Get Off Of My Cloud" and "Connection." An original member of Television who left the group before it recorded that first single, Richard Hell made his debut with his band the Voidoids on Ork in 1976 with an EP with the songs "Another World", "You Gotta Lose", and the punk classic "Blank Generation". with "Where the Fun Is." They are both included in the set along with the first song he redorded with the dB's, "(I Thought) You Wanted To Know" (written by Richard Lloyd). All of the singles will come in exact replicas of the original picture sleeves. The compilation is produced by the Numero Group, and only 2000 copies will be made available.
