THE BEATLES - ABBEY ROAD
1969 UK STEREO 12" LP Apple PCS 7088
Matrix Numbers : Side 1 YEX 749 - 6, stamper 6; Side 2 YEX 750 - 4, stamper 4
A truly excellent+ copy of this 1969 classic - hard to fault including stunning quality audio
The condition of both sides of the vinyl is near mint - hard to fault in any way. No scuffs, no scratches (surface or otherwise). Just a couple of wispy hairlines that are barely detectable, even under a bright light. I suspect that this record has been played only a few times. Truly impressive.
The matt finished Garrod & Lofthouse outer sleeve is in excellent+ condition, with original, rich and vibrant "as new" colouring fully intact. There is no scuffing or creasing on any of the edges, the corners are well defined, and the spine is flawless. There are three 1cm horizontal surface creases adjacent to the spine but these are of little consequence. The reverse side is perfect except for a faint tell-tale sign in the top right hand corner of a past sticker - even then you need to hold the cover in a bright light, and at the right angle, to detect this.
The quality of the audio is superb. No skips, no pops or clicks, no distortion - flawless. Sit back and enjoy a wonderful listening experience of this iconic album.
Each label is near perfect. Look closely under a bright light and you can just detect a two very faint, small spindle traces adjacent to the centre hole on the side 1 label. Also on side 1 are a couple of manufacturing faults where the label has become slightly ruffled, having a "crumpled" appearance in those two areas (see photo).
The track listing is :
Side 1:
1. COME TOGETHER
2. SOMETHING
3. MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER
4. OH! DARLING
5. OCTOPUS'S GARDEN
6. I WANT YOU (She's so heavy)
Side 2 :
1. HERE COMES THE SUN
2. BECAUSE
3. YOU NEVER GIVE ME YOUR MONEY
4. SUN KING
5. MEAN MR MUSTARD
6. POLYTHEBE PAM
7. SHE CAME IN THROUGH THE BATHROOM WINDOW
8. GOLDEN SLUMBERS
9. CARRY THAT WEIGHT
10. THE END
11. HER MAJESTY
Comes complete with original, standard white "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" inner sleeve with "PATENT NO. 1,125,555" - no splits, no age discolouration, fully functional but just a little creased towards the corners.
An archive copy of this classic, iconic record with sound quality that is hard to beat.
IF THIS ITEM INTERESTS YOU THEN YOU MAY LIKE TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY OTHER 60's/70'S VINYL OFFERINGS ALSO CURRENTLY ON EBAY : SOME REAL RARITIES!
If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.
A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 45 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. I worked in IT for 22 years before doing a complete career change to teach Maths in a high school at the ripe old age of 45 - probably the best career move that I ever made. I took great joy in indulging the "kids" in my eclectic collection of 60's and 70's vinyl, even once dedicating a whole PSE lesson to the Genesis classic "Foxtrot". But now I am retired and a combination of space requirements and a need to help fund my retirement has prompted me to "rationalise" my record collection and sell many of my much loved gems.
My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller, and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy.
On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take care in removing the record from the outer sleeve and properly protecting it in a separate white inner sleeve in order to prevent outer sleeve damage in transit, and for items that sell for over £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon postal insurance so please wait for an invoice before paying. I do NOT profiteer from postage costs. I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. Richard
