Ursprünglich 1972 veröffentlicht, war 'Octopus' das vierte Album der Band - Gary Green (guitars, percussion), Kerry Minnear (keyboards, vibraphone, percussion, cello, vocals), Derek Shulman (vocals, alto saxophone), Phil Shulman (saxophones, trumpet, mellophone, vocals), Ray Shulman (bass violin, guitar, percussion, vocals) und John Weathers (drums, percussion, xylophone) - und wurde seinerzeit von Martin Rushent abgemischt.

Das Album wurde jetzt von Steven Wilson akribisch und detailverliebt neu gemischt.

Die Innenseite des Gatefolds enthält eine neue Skizze des gefeierten Künstlers und Illustrators Roger Dean, sowie alle Songtexte und Linernotes zum Album.
