Pink Floyd guitarist/vocalist David Gilmour, with help from David Bowie and Richard Wright, pays tribute to the band's founder, Syd Barrett, who passed away in July of 2006. The first song is the early Floyd tune "Arnold Layne," a song the band recorded before Gilmour joined. It was the first single released by Pink Floyd, shortly after landing a recording contract with EMI. The song was written by Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's co-founder and original front man. Although not included on the band's debut album The Piper Gates Of Dawn, many consider "Arnold Layne" to be one of the finest psychedlic pop songs of its time.
