ULTRA RARE The Beatles Collectors Items 1979 box set ONE OF ONLY 5 MADE "Capitol SPRO-9462".

This is the original first box set pressing from 1979, with the yellow "Capitol Records" label. I obtained this album when it came out in 1979 and don't ever recall seeing one listed for sale since. It is one of only FIVE COPIES MADE.

"This limited edition sixteen-track record gained quite a reputation among collectors for its surprisingly well-conceived sleeve design and graphics. The back of the jacket offered concise liner notes on the origin of each track along with black and white photos of all the Beatles' previous Capitol Albums... In September 1979 Collector's Items was re-packaged in a limited edition box set. The box featured the same cover slicks as the original album..." - RareBeatles web site

The box and cover would normally graded as near mint, but the glue used to adhere the cover slick to the box has seeped through the front and back covers. This is more noticeable on the back cover, and can be easily seen in the photo. This issue has occurred on all 5 of the copies made. The slick has also lifted up in a couple of places, again, common to all copies.

The disc is graded VG++ to NM. There are a couple of light scuffs, and a small mark of some sort on the edge of one side. There are no split seams on the box.
