ARTIST: The Teen Kings - Roy Orbison
LABEL: Je-Wel JE-101
TITLES: Trying To Get You / Ooby Dooby
CONDITION: E-
DESCRIPTION:
Very scarce 78 by The Teen Kings from early 1956 - Roy Orbison's first appearance on record. The Teen Kings with Roy Orbison were a local West Texas band that had been active for several years before Sam Phillips heard their Je-Wel release and signed them to Sun. Plays great, only light inaudible scuffing.
This copy has a blank yellow label on the "Oooby Dooby" side. It was in the estate of someone who worked at a record store in the 1950s. and I suspect this copy was not saleable because of the blank label, so he might have taken it home. Has anyone seen other copies with a blank label? While "Ooby Dooby" is rockabilly, "Trying To Get (to) You" is in the more celebrated later ballad style of his timeless hits.
WAIT FOR SECOND INVOICE - THE ONE NOT AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED BY EBAY IMMEDIATELY AFTER CLOSE OF AUCTION.
