MORE INFO ON THE ARTIST & RELEASE- The Plugz (also known as "Los Plugz") were a band from that formed in 1977 and disbanded in 1984. They and were among the first Latino punk bands, although several bands, such as and , predated them. The Plugz melded the spirit of punk and Latino music.

Early history

The band was formed in 1977 and was a contemporary of the bands featured in the film . Their songs reflected the anger and angst of growing up Chicano, and this was reflected in their sardonic hi-speed version of ' "". The Plugz are generally acknowledged as being the first band in L.A., having started their own PLUGZ RECORDS and later Fatima records.

If you haven't heard it before, do yourself a HUGE favor and find a copy to buy!
I paid $80 for a used copy and have absolutely no regrets. This is one of the
finest works in early punk (if you have to categorize it). Everyone should have
a copy of this. No sure why this has been out of print for so long........hello,
remaster and re-release this masterpiece please.......anyone???

If you cannot afford this one, then try one of these instead:

The Cruzados "After Dark" or Tito and Tarantula "Hungry Sally and Other Lullabies".

Both of these are good as well.

within the iconoclastic sonic bombardment that charactized
LA's summer nightlife in the Slash days of Reganism & the new
take-it-for-granted excessess of a prosperous (though we didn't
know it then), sub culture of youth, fashion, music, & attitude
There in a brief point in time, we had Techno, Punk, Art, Pop,
Ska, and others which defied & defined catagories of thier own ..
and such is the case with Better Luck, an unintentional masterpiece
by an unwiting genius in Tito Larriva and his band, The Plugz
Contempopraries of 'X', The Gun Club, The Flesheaters, Germs,
Los Lobos, and countless others who's names will never become
household words, The Plugz carve out their own incredible niche
of latino flavored punk energy, with melody, soul, musicianship,
lyrics & vocals, which beg repeated listening.. it is joyful, sad,
poignant, humorous, nonsensical, and thought provoking .. but in
a better word, it is just plain great

Music like this tends to argue the point that the best
of everything, has in fact already been accomplished ..
we did it in the 80's, where humanity reached it's zenith
in all forms artistic, and in America, all forms political

Better Luck belongs in a time capsule, right next to
Fire of Love, Los Angeles, & The Doors ..
