THE KINKS - KINDA KINKS

An increasingly scarce copy of this 1965 UK 1st press pop/beat classic on the red PYE label, NPL 18112

 Matrix Numbers :

Side 1  NN 1120 A-1

Side 2  NN 1120 B-1

The appearance of the heavy duty vinyl is EXCELLENT. Lovely sheen with no scratches whatsoever, just a few very light paper "non-feelable" scuffs and wispy hairlines on each side and even then only really noticeable under a bright light. On the third track of side 1 there is a pinhead "bubble", and another on track 3 side 2 and again at the beginning of track 4 side 2, which I presume to be manufacturing faults. On side 1 the little bubble has no adverse affect upon the audio quality at all, on side 2 these little (really little!) result in 3 mild background clicks on track 3 and 5 clicks at the beginning of track 4. Considering it's 52 year antiquity this record remains in remarkably good condition - truly excellent.

The labels are excellent - the only blemishes being a few very faint spindle trail traces on each label adjacent to the centre hole.

The front-side laminated Garrod & Lofthouse outer sleeve is excellent.  The only scuffing is a 1.5 scuff at the centre of the top edge - the bottom edge and the spine are near perfect with no scuffing and (remarkably) retain their original rigidity. Similarly each corner remains a nice right angle, rigid and with barely any rubbing at all. The front side colours remain clear, clean and vibrant in their appearance. The opening edges have no fraying and there is no laminate lifting...amazing! The reverse side is again excellent+ with each of the flip backs in near perfect condition, no unwanted writing or doodles and barely any age discolouration. I doubt you'll find much better.

Finally, the quality of the audio is an overall VG+ Great tone and clarity throughout but just to repeat from above..."on side 2 these little (really little!) maufacturing pinhead bubbles result in 3 mild background clicks on track 3 and 5 clicks at the beginning of track 4." There are also 3 mild back ground clicks on track 2 side 2, and some mild background crackle/static which is most noticeable at the beginning and end of each side, and is again audible (background) during some of the quieter moments. There is nothing obvious for causing this occasional background crackle/static which diminished after I cleaned each side and would, I daresay, diminish even more after a professional clean.

The tracks are :

Side 1 :

1. LOOK FOR ME BABY

2. GOT MY FEET ON THE GROUND

3. NOTHIN' IN THE WORLD CAN STOP ME WORRYIN' 'BOUT THAT GIRL

4. NAGGIN' WOMAN

5. WONDER WHERE MY BABY IS

6. TIRED OF WAITING

Side 2 :

1. DANCING IN THE STREET

2. DON'T EVER CHANGE

3. COME ON NOW

4. SO LONG

5. YOU SHOULDN'T BE SAD

6. SOMETHING BETTER BEGINNING

Comes with original PYE poly-lined inner advertising sleeve which is in near perfect condition and still fully functional - no tears or splits, just a little creasing towards two of the corners.

In summary a VERY GOOD+ very first pressing pressing of this scarce 1965 UK beat classic - a great listen and a wonderful addition to any serious vinyl collection.

If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.

If this record interests you then take a look at my other 60's/70's classic vinyl listings.

bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 48 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but over the years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boots, auctions, and even through putting up a "vinyl wanted" notice in my wife's shop! I never intended selling any of my records but now I am retired and a combination of space requirements (caused partly by duplication) and a need to help fund my retirement has prompted me to "rationalise" my record collection and sell many of my much loved gems.

My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no quibble" refund policy

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in removing the record from the outer sleeve in order to prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

For this item postage & packaging will be Royal Mail 1st class  : UK £3.00, continental Europe £6, and Rest of the World £10.

NOTE that for items selling for more than £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon tracked and signed for postage which incurs a further £2-6 P&P costs, dependent upon location so, please, do not pay until I have invoiced you!!

I do discount post & packaging costs for multiple purchases. I do NOT profit from postage.

Good luck with your bidding! Richard
