THE WHO - A QUICK ONE

An increasingly scarce copy of this 1966 UK original rock/mod classic on the coveted REACTION label, MONO 593 002

 Matrix Numbers :

Side 1  593002 A//2

Side 2  593002 B//2

The appearance of the heavy duty vinyl is VG+. Nice sheen, completely flat with some light paper "non-feelable" scuffs and wispy hairlines on each side, some of the scuffs being visible in normal daylight. Considering it's 51 year antiquity this record remains in remarkably good condition.

The labels are excellent - the only blemishes being a few very faint spindle trail traces on each label adjacent to the centre hole.

The laminated (both sides) Ernest J. Day outer sleeve is VG.  There is barely any scuffing on any of the edges but there is laminate creasing on both sides adjacent and perpendicular to every edge along with further creasing most visible on the front side towards the bottom corners. There is also a little ring wear in evidence on both sides though this is mild.the spine is in very good shape but does have 5 surface creases, one of which cuts through the "U" from the word "QUICK" (see photo). The most obvious blemish is that there is a small area of peeling/tearing adjacent to the bottom edge on the reverse side (see photo). Still presentable though. with the colours on both sides remaining clear and vibrant.

Finally, the quality of the audio is an overall VG+ Great tone and clarity throughout with no clicks, skips or "pops", but there is some mild background static/crackle. Of course this becomes insignificant during most of the songs and is only really noticeable at the beginning and end of each side, during the interludes and some of the quieter moments. Even then this background interference is not too intrusive - turn up the volume, sit back and enjoy. This is a great album with every track making for a great listen.

The tracks are :

Side 1 :

1. RUN RUN RUN

2. BORIS THE SPIDER

3. I NEED YOU

4. WHISKEY MAN

5. HEAT WAVE

6. COBWEBS AND STRANGE

Side 2 :

1. DON'T LOOK AWAY

2. SEE MY WAY

3. SO SAD ABOUT US

4. A QUICK ONE, WHILE HE'S AWAY

Comes with original plain white die cut inner sleeve - a little grubby and with age discolouration towards the edges but still fully functional. I always supply a new plain white inner as a matter of course.

In summary a VERY GOOD+ original UK pressing of this scarce 1966 UK rock/mod classic - some obvious minor blemishes but a great listen and a nice addition to any serious vinyl collection.

If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.

If this record interests you then take a look at my other 60's & 70's classic vinyl listings.

bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 48 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but over the years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boots, auctions, and even through putting up a "vinyl wanted" notice in my wife's shop! I never intended selling any of my records but now I am retired and a combination of space requirements (caused partly by duplication) and a need to help fund my retirement has prompted me to "rationalise" my record collection and sell many of my much loved gems.

My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no quibble" refund policy

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in removing the record from the outer sleeve in order to prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

For this item postage & packaging will be Royal Mail 1st class  : UK £3.00, continental Europe £6, and Rest of the World £10.

NOTE that for items selling for more than £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon tracked and signed for postage which incurs a further £2-6 P&P costs, dependent upon location so, please, do not pay until I have invoiced you!!

I do discount post & packaging costs for multiple purchases. I do NOT profit from postage.

Good luck with your bidding! Richard
