The 1959 UK MONO Pressing on the 1st issue Silver Spot RCA label
Cover: Very Good condition. Firm and flat and holds the LP tightly. Just a little storage wear and scuffs but all are still well defined corners/ edges. Lamination completely intact over the iconic glossy front pictorial, back panel and two fold-overs on the back are substantially intact. The front and back pictorials has retained its gloss. Has a retailers tiny puck hole in the top right and bottom right of corners of the front panel. For such a thin delicate sleeve it has lasted very well all these decades, no rips or splits apart from tiny tear on top fold-over but it is still stuck down.
The spine is completely intact and the title text present and readable.
There are no stickers or sticker residue or handwriting, or handwriting imprints.
Inner Sleeve: This is a the RCA Victor Decca starred sleeve with poly interior. Completely intact at all seams inside and out, and it is very clean.
The Vinyl Disc: Very Good
The vinyl surfaces have retained a bright glossy sheen on both sides with the most of the surface area being marks free. The surfaces are smooth with no groove wear.
There are no feelable marks or scratches, no dinks in the surfaces and no warps.
The record does show play use on both sides commensurate with age with light non-feelable stylus hairlines scattered here and there, gathered in some sections, but all mainly visible under bright light when viewed at from an angle, and nothing pronounced or worrying.
Pressed on heavy, robust fifties vinyl. The disc lays completely flat on the turntable on both sides, and sits perfectly on the spindle point. This is a strong, robust late Fifties vinyl pressing.
The labels are Very Good, earliest possible in the U.K., having retained the dark black background and silver print still looks striking. The spindle location point has very little wear on the label paper around its perimeter, does have spindle line traces but not overly heavy.
All label text is clear and readable.
No sticker or sticker residue or writing.
ET Tax Code in the central run-out.
The Audio: Very Good Plus
The record plays with crisp vocal clarity and full mono bass definition throughout.
Track changes and interludes are generally smooth and noise free but with light ticks audible in the intro's/ outros's to some tracks. This LP is thoroughly playable with good sound reproduction, and still a very respectable example. There are no noises such as pops, loud ticks or background noises which overcomes any of the audio. Plays smoothly.
The robust early sixties vinyl presses usually ensures that the audio quality tends to be better than the appearance of a played surface may suggest, and this is no exception.
There are no major detractions and only a small/ acceptable amount of lessening from the original audio quality.
Earliest pressing of an Elvis Presley LP in the UK. Not an audiophile copy, but still a respectable nicely sounding LP, still with a striking appearance of Elvis on both sides of the sleeve.
