Extraordinary and much sought-after copy of one of the holy grails of Afro-Cuban music in the US, and certainly one of the rarest LPs in the Blue Note catalogue. VG++ first pressing featuring deep groove labels,“RVG” stamped into dead wax, and Plastylite “Ear” and “9M” hand-etched into dead wax. EX back cover reads “Blue Note Records, 47 West 63rd St., New York 23.”

Significantly, BOTH labels read “Blue Note Records, 47 West 63rd, New York 23.” The rarity of the New York 23 label on both sides of the LP, combined with the rarity of the LP’s condition, make this a very special and highly collectible copy.

Vinyl: VG++. Vinyl is glossy with beautiful sheen, with one or two hairline cosmetic scratches that do not affect play at all. No skips, clicks, or pops. One or two bits of static in background on some quieter passages, but otherwise the quality of the sound is magnificent in this great RVG production.Labels are clean and clear. Cover: EX. Except for the smallest wear to lower left edge of spine and upper right of cover, the cover is in spectacular EX condition, verging on NM-. There is a small stamped letter “D” from earlier owner on lower right-hand corner. Some of the typed text on back cover is slightly smudged, but everything is perfectly legible. No foxing or structural damage of any kind. Simply beautiful. See photos for details.
