Offered here is the album that started Beatlemania MEET THE BEATLES Capitol T 2047. This particular variation is the 1964 original MONO 2nd variation with 1 BMI on song 1 and ASCAP for the other 11 songs. The lp is a strong VG+ maybe better with some hairline scratches sleeve rubs with NM labels, the cover is in VG++ very close to Ex in my opinion with little to no ring wear, no spits, no spine wear, no writing whatsoever, and comes with its original inner sleeve that is in at least VG++ condition. The added bonus to this album is the NATIONAL RECORD NEWS paper (Special BEATLES Issue) that was issued in the original MEET THE BEATLES Press Kit handed out to the press the day following their triumphant appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. This tabloid has pictures and stories on the group and contains tales of Beatlemania and fashion news regarding the Beatle hairdo, biographies, including that of manager Brian Epstein, who is called the fifth Beatle. There are errors on the head shots where Paul is identified as John, George as Paul and John as George. Only Ringo is correctly identified. Some of these news papers made its way to original MEET THE BEATLES albums and the paper grades VG++ maybe better. A triangle on the trail off area and a # 3 on the back cover indicates a Scranton pressing. So if you’re looking for a very decent piece of Beatles history that started BEATLEMANIA, it’s right here!
