PINK FLOYD - THE WALL

A truly excellent copy of this increasingly rare and highly sought after 1979 UK first pressing of this Pink Floyd/prog rock classic, on the Harvest label, stereo SHDW 411

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  SHSP 4111 A - 2U

Side 2  SHSP 4111 B - 3U

Side 3  SHSP 4112 A - 3U

Side 4  SHSP 4112 B - 2U

This is the rarer UK original pressing of the classic Pink Floyd LP with the following 1st pressing unique characteristics :

1. 1st press A-2, B-3, A-3, and B-2 dead wax matrices;

2. The inclusion of a see through "Pink Floyd" plastic sticker that adheres to the front cover but is not permanently stuck on;

3. Band members are not listed on the inside of the gate fold. It only says "Words and Music - Roger Waters. Except..." and "Produced By David Gilmour, Bob Ezrin, Roger Waters". Re-pressings added band member credits and had other minor alterations.

4. No bar code on the reverse side of the gate fold outer sleeve;

5.  The inner sleeves are each on thick card with rounded corners and a nine-inch thumb notch at the top.

The appearance of each of the vinyls is excellent plus (EX+). Gleaming, completely flat vinyls with jet black lacquering and in normal daylight the appearance is truly impressive. With closer scrutiny and under a bright light a number of superficial marks, hairlines and light paper scuff marks come into view but nothing below the surface and nothing "feelable". Overall condition of each side of the vinyls is a solid excellent.

The labels are pristine. Beautiful labels with all writing, all colouring, all art work, and all logos perfectly intact. If you look closely at each label it is just possible to identify the occasional very faint spindle trail adjacent to the centre hole Brilliant!

The non-laminated Gerald Scarfe designed gate fold sleeve is excellent (EX). Such an iconic sleeve, and so rare to come across an original let alone an original in condition as impressive as this. Amazingly there is no scuffing or rubbing on any of the edges, the opening sides are rigid with no feathering but a couple of small indentations are present along with a small .5cm surface tear (which has bee nneatly repaired) towards the bottom of the front opening edge, and each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with no rubbing at all. The spine is also near perfect, remaining rigid and with no scuffing. There is just the outline hint of some very mild ring wear in the top half of the front side and. The inside of the gate fold in near perfect, being very difficult to fault. Note that the band members are not listed on the inside cover - it only says "Words and Music - Roger Waters. Except..." and "Produced By David Gilmour, Bob Ezrin, Roger Waters"...this is unique to first pressings, later pressings added band member credits and had other minor alterations. Again, a few minor blemishes but nonetheless a solid excellent.

Also included is the rare and sought after "PINK FLOYD THE WALL" plastic sticker which adheres to the outside gate fold but does not permanently stick to it. Again, this comes in excellent condition despite there being some minor creasing in the top half.

Finally, the quality of the audio is excellent (EX). No nasty clicks, no skips, no repeats, no jumps, and barely any background interference or crackle, just great stereo audio reproduction with brilliant tone and clarity even on the higher frequencies and at higher volume. During some of the quieter moments you may detect the occasional very mild background click, very slight crackle, or nano-second of static; at the very beginning of of each side there is just the hint of some background crackle before the music kicks in, on side 3 I noticed x3 mild clicks before the music started followed by a further x3 extremely mild clicks, and on side 4 I detected x8 very mild background clicks at the beginning of the first track (the remainder of side 4 is simply brilliant stereo) but these are all very minor blemishes, non-intrusive, and do not impinge upon the overall excellent audio quality which for much of the album is better than excellent. Every track makes for a great listen.

The tracks are :

Side 1 :

1. In The Flesh?

2. The Thin Ice

3. Another Brick In the Wall (Part 1)

4. The Happiest Days Of Our Lives

5. Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)

6. Mother

Side 2 :

1. Goodbye Blue Sky

2. Empty Spaces

3. Young Lust

4. One Of My Turns

5. Don't Leave Me Now

6. Another Brick In The Wall (Part 3)

Side 3 :

1. Hey You

2. Is There Anybody Out There?

3. Nobody Home

4. Vera

5. Bring The Boys Back Home

6. Comfortably Numb

Side 4 :

1.The Show Must Go On

2. In The Flesh

3. Run Like Hell

4. Waiting For The Worms

5. Stop

6. The Trial

7. Outside The Wall

Comes with original excellent condition inner sleeves which each also feature the "Wall" design with lyrics (graphics by Gerald Scarfe), with the track order on the inners not being the same as featured on the album. Other inner sleeve 1st pressing identifiers are the thick card with rounded corners and a nine-inch thumb notch at the top of each inner sleeve; and sides 2 and 4 have the UK catalogue number (SHSP 4111/2) in the lower right corner. The condition of each inner is excellent, with no tears, no feathering or scuffing of the edges, no unwanted writing but there is a 3cm seam split in the middle of the bottom edge of each inner.  Note that I always post the vinyl (each one in this case) in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.

In summary a truly excellent copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1979 UK 1st pressing prog rock classic - worthy of gracing any vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value..

If this record interests you then take a look at my other 60's & 70's classic vinyl listings.

bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 48 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but during the past 30 years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boot sales, auctions, and even through putting up a "vinyl wanted" notice in my wife's shop! I am now retired and take great delight in being able to spend more time scouring the country and attending boot sales and auctions in the hope of unearthing more vinyl gems...I am 64 years of age now and am still discovering bands and music of the 60's and 70's that I have never come across before. Wonderful! Richard

My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no quibble" refund policy

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

For this item postage & packaging will be UK £5.00, Royal Mail 1st class signed for; continental Europe £11 and Rest of the World £15, Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

 I DO discount post & packaging costs for multiple purchases. I do NOT profit from postage.

Good luck with your bidding!

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.
