Wow, this is world premiere 1986 Maxi Single release with the original duet version of “Je t’aime … moi non plus” performed in duet by Serge Gainsbourg and his then lover, Brigitte Bardot. 19 years after it has been recorded. It wouldn’t be released until 1986, newly remastered and mixed. Gainsbourg recorded it with Bardot in late 1967, its melody being based on a piece Gainsbourg wrote for a film score in the mid 1960s. But because of legal and private reasons the Bardot duet was withheld until 1986. – The more famous version with Jane Birkin was recorded and released in early 1969, and it became a worldwide scandal as well as a big hit. The mix of “Bonnie and Clyde” on the B side is also newly mixed and therefore different from the original one released in 1968. Both songs have been remixed by Dominique Blanc-Francard and Philippe Lerichomme. Gainsbourg wrote both songs. Bardot and Gainsbourg sing. Michel Colombier arranged and conducted the music.

His lyrical works incorporated wordplay, often for humorous, provocative, satirical or subversive reasons, including mondegreen, onomatopoeia, rhyme, spoonerism, dysphemism, paraprosdokian and pun. Gainsbourg wrote over 550 songs, which have been covered more than 1,000 times by a range of artists. Since his death, Gainsbourg's music has reached legendary stature in France, and he is regarded as one of France's most revered musicians.
