This RARE boxed set of Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel Opera from 1947 was the first complete recording in English by the Metropolitan Opera, starring Risë Stevens and Nadine Conner in the title roles.  Issued as this 78RPM 12-record  set by Columbia Masterworks Records; never appeared on CD.  Vinyl records are in very good condition, with few scratches and appear to have seldom been played. Has been in our family for 3 generations, and it has been lovingly cared for. Smoke-free and pet-free home. Sleeves are also in excellent condition with no damage, tears or stains.  Outer box casing has visible wear (see 2 photos), but it's still very sturdy.  Paper program includes  cast  photos and biographies, the plot and brief, and a complete translation of  the libretto written by Humperdinck's sister, Adelheid Wette. Program also contains an interior photo of the Metropolitan Opera house and of the stage  scene of angels with trumpets. There is some minor visible wear to the program including some folds and bends. This is a very unique, extremely hard to find set showcasing a great opera.  The whole set weighs approximately 13 pounds.
