THE BEATLES
WHITE ALBUM 1ST MONO
1968
Matrices -1/ -1/ -3/ -1
Sleeve:
The sleeve is only in fair condition with numerous laminate wrinkles and scratches. The spine has been repaired with clear tape. This is a first issue numbered copy 0188831. Inside the gatefold is very clean but with a name which was written in biro and has been rubbed out and left indented. Despite all this the sleeve is still sturdy and strong.
Inner Sleeves:
Very Good condition. Completely intact but with lots of creases.
Poster:
Fair condition. No writing but with seam splits and pin holes.
Photos:
Good condition. Nice and glossy but with a prominent crease in a similar position on each one.
The Vinyl’s:
All in around the same condition as Good. The surfaces are smooth and groove wear free, still projecting a bright pressing shine on both sides. Clean vinyl showing play use in terms of lots of light sweeping hairline marks on the surfaces, and two scuff lines on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, the smaller one of which is feelable and causes jumps - but still plays through without sticks. No other scuffs, and no warps, and no feelable scratches. Both records lye completely flat on the turntable. They have received lots of play use but have not been handled too badly, and are both still decent examples. Vinyl photographed under halogen light.
The Labels: Very Good condition. A little wear to the spindle perimeter, but minimal spindle location lines/ marks, or writing etc.
Early mother and stamper codes:
Side 1: 1 RA Side 2: 1 RP Side 3: 1 GGH Side 4: 4 GAP
The Audio: Very Good. Plays smoothly from start to finish on each side with warm mono detail and crisp and clear vocals, sounds far better than it appears as the vinyl surfaces have not been affected by the light hairline marks too much. No interruption or defects over the audio. There is only what you would expect to be noticeable in terms of audible ticks here and and light crackle, ostensibly in the run-ins on the first tracks on each side, but no jumps other than mentioned on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. No skips, no pops and no sticks, and by and large the audio is surprisingly good. The Sixties vinyl always tends to play better than it appears (although this doesn’t appear too bad at all and has much better audio quality than it portrays).
