THE BEATLES

WITH THE BEATLES

1963 1st Pressing

1st Press Matrices 1N/ 1N

Format: Mono

Sleeve:

The sleeve is in Very Good condition. It is still sturdy and strong and holds the record securely. There are just a few laminate creases and soft corner wear and a little creasing to the fold-overs on the rear with a tiny section of one missing. Crucially the spine is completely intact with readable title text, it has straight unblemished edges, no splits, no writing/ writing imprints. Still very clean and glossy.

Inner Sleeve: Original EMI poly-lined inner sleeve completely intact.

The Vinyl: Strictly graded as Very Good condition, it is probably closer to VG+. There is nothing visible that detracts from the jet black  pressing shine - but it does have several superficial hairlines on each side - sweeping over the surface. There is nothing to be called a scratch, and there are no marks or scuffs, there is nothing feelable except one needle drop on track 3 Side 2. It is a heavy-weight slab of vinyl that lies completely flat on the turntable. For the most part it is crystal clear and has retained a bright mirror-like pressing shine.

The Labels: Very Good Plus condition. A little light wear to the spindle perimeter. There are minimal spindle lines and no writing etc.

The Audio: Plays smoothly from start to finish on each side with warm mono bass and clear and lucid detail. These robust and resilient early sixties vinyl pressings always tend to play better than the appearance might portray, and they were made to sustain frequent play. The lead-in’s and fade-out’s are quiet and there isn’t any unwanted background noise, it is really crystal clear. However there are two quick jumps; one on Side 2 track 1,  and one on Side 2 track 3 accompanied by a few ticks (a result of needle drop). It will still sustain decades of frequent careful use, and I would describe the audio as Very Good Plus, and on the whole, it is crystal clear audio much like the vinyl surfaces.
