"Thank Christ for the Bomb" was the group's first commercial success (reaching 9th place in the UK Albums Chart).
On their third album, Groundhogs, the band moved a bit away from blues rock. The climate of this album is closer to hard rock. However, you have to give back to the band that it was on this album that they finally showed their style. The person of Tony McPhee and his recognizable timbre and his style of playing the guitar were of great merit.
The album starts with the song "Strange Town" where, instead of the chorus, the musicians used an interesting riffing style and instrumental slowdowns. In fact, the entire front page of the album is exuberant rock based on guitar performances. The exception is the title piece, consisting of two parts. A melodic song with an acoustic guitar and a fully instrumental part with drums and vocals. The flip side of the album is still great guitar parts. Noteworthy is the fun dynamics in the songs "Garden" and "Status People" where the verses are slower and the chorus very expressive.
