ORIGINAL 1968 MONO PRESSING
Cat. No. PMC 1202
At a point in the 1960's when Stereo was the dominant format, this rarer Mono format 6th pressing has a label variation which is rarely ever found.
The 1963 publishing date stamp is no longer indented as in previous variations and previous pressings. The direct alignment of the publishing 'p' symbol to matrix number above first appears on this label variation, as does the Sans Serif font having changed from the previous Times New Roman font. This variation set the tone for the subsequent pressings.
In addition, there is an ultra-rare error on this particular label such that there is an extra dot, as in the 'Sold In .U.K.' text!
Sleeve:
The sleeve is in Very Good condition, retaining its rigidity and structure. The spine is completely intact with clear title text. The edges are smooth with no wear. The lamination is tight with a handful of surface creases, and the pictorial retains it’s bright contrast. No tears, no rips or repairs etc. A scuff to top left corner. There are light discoloration blemishes on the rear panel, and feint writing imprints on the top-folder belonging to the original owner.
Inner Sleeve: Original sepia EMI adverting inner sleeve completely intact and in Very Good condition.
The Vinyl: In a strong Excellent to Excellent Plus condition. The vinyl has retained a jet-black glossy pressing sheen all over both sides. Under direct light with the disc held at various angles it is immediately obvious that the record has been seldom played. There are no warps, no scuffs, no needle drops, no groove wear, and no scratches, and no stand-out hairlines. There are a handful of feint wispy lines which are not immediately obvious and could be from sleeve removal. The surfaces are clean and have retained their original lustre. They really are remarkable condition surfaces, and together with the superb audio is an extra reason for owning this LP.
The Labels: Very Good condition. There is some sticker residue where the original owner has removed their name, and there are a few spindle lines, but the lines convey infrequent plays if you follow the pattern. The labels are still very respectable. KT tax code still bold.
The Audio: There are no detractions over the audio, barely any discernible deviation from the original audio quality. The audio is fundamentally Excellent Plus, with a few static tics which are only audible in some of the linking grooves between tracks and a tics which are audible on some of the fade-in’s fade-out's. Original warm, clear and lucid sound projection with deep mono bass. No jumps, no pops, no clicks, no skips, no loud tics, no background interference, and no sticks. Sounds fantastic and is comparable to new record quality.
