LEE MORGAN - SEARCH FOR THE NEW LAND
A beautiful condition copy of this original 1966 jazz rarity with gleaming vinyl and superb MONO sound quality
Year/Label :
1966 US BLUE NOTE
Label number :
BLP 4169 Matrix numbers :
BNLP-4169 - A / BNLP-4169 - B with
"VAN GELDER" (machine stamped) on both dead wax areas
Nice
thick, weighty and completely flat gleaming vinyl in excellent plus (EX+) condition, retaining a wonderful jet black sheen
and only when viewed closely under a bright light do just a couple of extremely faint, and strictly surface only, paper hairlines and barely discernible lightest of light scuff marks come into view - non-obvious, purely superficial, and not impinging upon the brilliant MONO audio quality at all.
Excellent plus (EX+) condition labels - virtually unmarked except for just a couple of very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each.
Clearly this record has been sparingly played. The original non-laminated and iconic outer sleeve is in excellent (EX) condition - firm, unscuffed edges including a rigid spine where all text remains perfectly legible. There is just some very minor rubbing on the corners along with a little buffering on the bottom left corner and a few insignifcant tiny "nicks" on the top edge - all very trivial. There is no creasing and, amazingly, barely any age discolouration at all, with all photos and text remaining perfectly intact. The front-side photo remains as iconically impressive as ever. Note the horizontal "43 West 61st St., New York 23" text at the bottom of the reverse side - indicative of very early Blue Note pressings.
The quality of the audio is excellent plus (EX+) - no clicks, skips, repeats, jumps or crackle/interference at all - stunning, and so impressive for a record of this age.
Great tone throughout with every note played coming across crystal clear. Comes with
"27 YEARS BLUE NOTE" inner sleeve which does have a single 4cm side seam split and a little creasing towards the top corners - otherwise excellent and remaining fully functional functional. I always use a brand new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve for postage purposes.
With
Lee Morgan on trumpet,
Wayne Shorter on tenor sax,
Grant Green on guitar,
Herbie Hancock on piano,
Reginald Workman on bass, and
Billy Higgins on drums who could ask for more? Top notch musicians at the top of their game...no wonder this is such a sought after LP.
A truly iconic, jazz "great" LP - an absolute must for any serious jazz vinyl collection. POSTAGE COSTS : For the UK £5 using Royal Mail 1st class signed for (note that for items selling for more than £200 I post Royal Mail special delivery, for which I pay the extra cost);
for continental Europe £14 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,
and for the rest of the world £21 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.
I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.
Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the sleeve itself to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
