THE BEATLES
RUBBER SOUL
1965 1ST MONO
CAT. NO. PMC 1267
-1/ -1 MATRICES
An incredibly rare original copy being pressed in December 1965 and quickly withdrawn due to the imbalance in the Bass. This particular copy is very clean and sounds very clean!
Sleeve: Very Good condition. Has retained its original glossy finish, bright coloration and contrast... Corners and edges have a little shelf-wear but spine is structurally sound. No tears, rips, or repairs, and no ring-wear, but a few patches of discolouration on the rear panel and pen marks. There is a rippling effect to the opening side extreme edges laminate and a few creases emanating from bottom edge. Lies completely flat and the fold-over's are still well adhered and clean. This s a first issue with the tear on John Lennon’s shoulder visible.
The Vinyl: In a Very Good Plus condition ... Has retained a jet-black glossy pressing sheen all over both surfaces and looks to have been seldom played. There are no warps, no scuffs, no needle drops, no groove wear, no scratches. The surfaces are clean and have retained their original lustre and project a strong mirror-like shine. Inspected closely there are just a handful of hairlines. The condition clearly shows the potential for an outstanding audio rendition and I believe is as good as ever likely to be heard.
Mothers & Stampers: 3 GA/ 1 AM
Inner Sleeve: Original tracing-paper lined EMI advertising inner sleeve in Excellent Condition with no splits or discolouration, and neat opening seam. Has a few handling creases.
The Labels: Very Good condition. No play-wear to the spindle perimeter, there are several small localised spindle line traces to the spindle point. KT tax code present and still bold. There is a shop sticker which has been removed.
The Audio: There are no audible detractions, no particular discernible deviation from the original audio quality. It plays as well as likely to be possible, very clear and lucid with only the very very rare occasional static type sound tic only audible in a couple of the linking grooves between tracks and perhaps in one or two of the fade’s. Lucid instrumental detail and raw original deep imbalanced mono bass channelling, and loud and punchy vocals. No jumps, no pops, no clicks, no skips, no background noise, no sticks etc.almost comparable to new record quality. The best thing about this is the audio and it is a strong Excellent Plus, even the track Michelle is uninterrupted by deviation.
