In the 1980's Tower Records Imports
(or TRIP as they were also known) brought in over 80% of the Japanese
vinyl that was available in the USA. To combat price-tag switching on
these records in their Tower Records stores, they adopted a special
doubled over (and thick) shrinkwrap so that the price-tags could be
underneath the outer layer (and not accessible without cutting it) but
not on the record's cover either.
That is what you see here!
It's a 1985 Japan issue of The Damned's LP Another Great Record From The Damned, The Best Of The Damned (Chiswick Records – SP18-5171), still in the special TRIP double-shrink. It has never been
opened or played! Still with the original inside the shrink Tower
Records price-tag.
Please Note:
The bottom right-hand corner of this one was cut, when Tower Records
was sued by the U.S. Major-label companies over "parallel products" and
won, forcing Tower to stop bringing in imported music if it was licensed
to a US company (even if they were buying it from the international
branches of the very same companies that brought the lawsuit) and
liquidate their back-stock by a certain date. So they made in-house
"cut-outs" of many LPs like this. Also Please Note: The outer-wrap has some age-cloudiness
