1966 DON RENDELL / IAN CARR gem on cherished UK 1st press Columbia black/blue/silver record label :
excellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl - many would grade as "near mint" I am sure - thick, weighty and completely flat and in normal daylight comes across as unmarked, giving off a gorgeous lustre and retaining it's original jet black sheen. With close inspection under a bright light just a few tiny marks and extremely faint paper scuff lines can be detected - nothing really and certainly purely superficial, not impinging upon the terrific MONO sound quality at all. Beautiful, and clearly this record has been played only a handful of times.
Excellent plus (EX+) condition 1st press labels, with the "K" & "T" tax codes clearly visible on the side 2 label and the only marks being just a few very small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label.
Excellent (EX) condition front-laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cardboard outer sleeve with firm edges and no creasing. Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with minimal rubbing, the 1st press "nipped ends" spine is rigid with all text perfectly intact, the flipbacks on the reverse side are near perfect, and the opening edges are also firm with no fraying or feathering. The only blemishes are x2 3mm "nicks" on the bottom edge, a thin strip of light laminate lift adjacent to the bottom edge, a few 1cm very light horizontal laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine, a very light 3cm laminate crease located 4cm below the first "T" in "5TET" and only visible when the cover is tilted to the correct angle in a good light, and just the hint of some very mild age discolouration towards the edges on the reverse side. All photos, art work and colours remain beautifully intact with great vibrancy and definition. So not quite perfect but still eminently presentable, fully functional and a solid "excellent" condition overall.
Excellent plus (EX+) MONO audio quality - stunning in fact, with no skips, sticks, jumps, repeats, clicks, interference or distortion, no background crackle at all and simply great tone with crystal clear audio quality throughout - brilliant!
DON RENDELL (tenor & soprano saxes, flute, clarinet),
Dave Green (bass),
Michael Garrick (piano),
Trevor Tomkin (drums) and
Ian Carr (trumpet & flugelhorn) all at the very top of their game.
Superb, and no wonder this 1st press LP is so sought after! Comes complete with
original near perfect condition poly-lined "USE EMITEX" inner sleeve - no splits, creases, tears, edge fraying or age discolouration - amazing! (I do of course insert the record into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve for postal purposes and to protect the original).
One of the rarest UK 1st press jazz LP's and very difficult to find now, especially in condition as truly impressive as this - a serious addition to any jazz vinyl collection. POSTAGE COSTS : For the UK £9 using Royal Mail special delivery;
for continental Europe £14 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,
and for the rest of the world £21 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.
I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.
Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 53 years from a variety of sources : my own collection, friends and family, car boot and garage sales, door-to-door leaflets, and even through placing an advert in my wife's shop window! My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I will sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy. If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige. There is NO RESERVE on this item. Richard
