TREES - ON THE SHORE

An overall nice condition and very presentable copy of this 1970 UK 1st press "under the radar" folk/rock gem with glossy vinyl, original non-laminated outer sleeve, original inner, and overall impressive STEREO sound quality

Year/Label :  UK CBS 1970

Label number :  64 168

Matrix numbers :  S-64168-A1  /  S-64168-B1

Stampers :  A 7  /  A 5 (not easy to make out the digit)

Completely flat glossy vinyl still retaining a gorgeous jet black sheen. Side 1 comes across as being virtually unmarked, even with close inspection under a bright light, and I have no hesitation in grading the condition of side 1 as excellent plus (EX+). Side 2 is similar except for a couple of very faint small wispy hairlines which are both non-feelable and have no impact upon the sound quality whatsoever; however there is also a 4cm hairline (see photo) which though non-feelable does obviously just breach the surface and causes almost constant rotational light clicking for the first 4 tracks, and for that reason I can only grade the condition of side 2 of the vinyl as very good (VG).   Pristine labels with no marks whatsoever, not even the usual few very light spindle trails.;  very good  (VG) condition non-laminated original outer sleeve with firm edges, well defined right angled corners still with minimal rubbing on each, firm opening edges with no fraying, and no cardboard creasing or unwanted writing. There are some blemishes, however : there is no scuffing on either the top or bottom edge (just a couple of tiny nicks on the top edge) but there is some intermittent scuffing on the spine along with a few tiny nicks which does partially impinge upon the spine text, there are two small areas of slight colour fading on the front side towards the top edge (presumably due to two removed stickers), there are just a few small handling/storage light marks including a small pen mark on the reverse side towards the spine edge, the bottom edges are very slightly out of sync in that the bottom reverse side edge sits below the front side bottom edge by about 2mm...trivial and weird! I have tried to capture each of these glitches in my accompanying photos.   The STEREO sound quality, with no skips, repeats, jumps, interference or background crackle on either side, varies : side 1 is excellent plus (EX+) with no clicks - simply great tone and clarity throughout; but side 2 I can only grade as very good (VG) due to the aforementioned rotational clicking (light but noticeable) during the first four tracks.

Comes complete with excellent (EX) condition original CBS advertising inner sleeve with no edge splits and barely any age discolouration - just a little minor creasing and remaining fully functional.

A nice copy overall - it has it's glitches but remaining highly presentable and overall excellent listening (just a pity about those light clicks on side 2!).

POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £13 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked/signed for,

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
