Rare Genesis Firth of Fifth (Live) floppy-single.
This is a very rare floppy-disk single 33rpm. It comes from an official live recording in 1981 made in Nassau, long Island, New York in 1981- ref GI-01.
Genesis Information were the official fan club for the band at that time and had access to the master tapes to press this very rare disc for fan club members only in 1983. All done with the permission of Charisma records and Hit and Run.
Note this is a ‘floppy’ single made of light plastic, but it plays very well- excellent sound quality.
The packaging was produced by the fan club using a copier and is pretty basic with rough edges.
Still an extremely rare item for any Genesis collector.
Firth of Fifth is a true Genesis classic and has had a strong critical response as one of the best examples ever of progressive rock. A particular highlight of the track is Bank's piano introduction. Rock author Edward Macan describes Firth of Fifth as "one of the finest nine and half minutes of music that Genesis ever put down".
