Hawkwind's 1973 release 'Space Ritual' soars far beyond the ordinary, presenting a psychedelic trip into the furthest reaches of the cosmic soundscape. The album, a live recording of performances from their 1972 tour, is a mesmerizing auditory journey that epitomizes Hawkwind's profound influence on the space rock genre and progressive rock.

'Space Ritual' is a heady blend of hard rock, and electronic music that lulls listeners into a trance-like state. It's an album that requires attention and immersion to fully appreciate its layered depth. Echoing synthesizers, driving bass lines, hypnotic drum patterns, and Dave Brock's heavily distorted guitar all blend into a whirlwind of sound that feels otherworldly yet familiar.

The record doesn't skimp on experimentation, with each track serving as an integral part of the overall cosmic narrative. "Born to Go" sets the pace with its pulsating rhythm, a signature Hawkwind element that reverberates throughout the entire album. "Orgone Accumulator", arguably one of the standout tracks, blends a catchy riff with saxophone accents, demonstrating the band's effortless fusion of styles.

Lyrically, the album delves into the mysteries of the universe, future societies, and human consciousness, all articulated through Robert Calvert and Michael Moorcock's spoken word segments. These narratives lend an eerie, dystopian tinge to the album, enhancing its psychedelic undercurrents.

Despite its experimental nature, 'Space Ritual' never feels indulgent or disjointed. Hawkwind successfully craft an immersive experience, demonstrating their unerring ability to construct and control chaos, crafting it into something enthralling and captivating. The album remains fresh and innovative even after many decades, highlighting the band's timeless appeal.

To sum up, Hawkwind's 'Space Ritual' is more than just music; it's a voyage into the very heart of space rock, a testament to the power of musical innovation, and a landmark in the history of progressive and psychedelic rock. While it may not cater to everyone's tastes, for those willing to embark on its interstellar journey, 'Space Ritual' promises an unforgettable sonic exploration.

I COULD NOT FIND ANY MARKS AT ALL ON THE VINYL. ALL SIDES LOOK VERY CLEAN AND UNPLAYED. NOT EVEN PAPER SCUFFS. I BELIEVE A GRADE OF EX+ IS APPROPRIATE. ALL OF THE LABELS ARE VERY CLEAN AND WEAR-FREE. NO SPINDLE MARKS.

THE COVER IS VG+ FOR SOME VERY LIGHT EDGE WEAR LIGHT EDGE WEAR AND SOME LIGHT RING WEAR. THE SPINE IS STILL VERY NICE AND CLEAN.
