TUDOR LODGE - self titled

1971 UK Vertigo Swirl 1st press folk/rock gem - impressive audio

Year/Label : 1971 UK VERTIGO swirl
Label number : STEREO 6360 043
Matrix numbers : 6360043 1Y//1 420,  6360043 2Y//1 420
Stampers :  1 1 2  /  11 2  04
Very good (VG) condition vinyl - there are a number of wispy hairlines and fine scuff marks on each side, more noticeable when viewed closely under a bright light, all of which appear to be superficial and non-feelable except for a single 3cm hairline on side 1 which is more noticeable, spans most of A3-A5 and about 1cm of which is just feelable and does cause some very light background clicking during most of A4. There is a 1cm scuff mark adjacent to this hairline which itself causes a few added and very light background clicks, again on A4, but nothing nasty and certainly no sticks, jumps, repeats, or skips. To be more accurate would grade the condition of side 1 as VG and side 2 as VG+.  Each label is excellent with the only blemishes being some small and very faint spindle lines adjacent to the centre hole on each, and the iconic large Vertigo Swirl logo and black text remain in excellent order.  The condition of the original UK non-laminated P.D. GRAPHICS fold out "gimmix" sleeve is very good minus (VG-). The superb art work, graphics, and sleeve text all remain nicely intact with no obvious cardboard creasing and no unwanted writing. But there is noticeable and obvious edge scuffing (see photos), clearly in evidence on all edges especially the spine where the spine text has been 90% scuffed away. There is also obvious scuffing on each corner, and a further small area of scuffing on the front side (beside the top right corner Vertigo swirl logo") which has been coloured in. The gimmix sleeve does fold out but some of the folds are now fragile due to over-use, and one of the folds has completely come apart (see photo). There is also age discolouration on the reverse side of the fold-out.  The audio quality is very good plus (VG+) with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, obvious clicks, interference or distortion and any background crackle is very occasional and very background and at an absolute minimum. The only noticeable clicks (and even then you will need to listen hard to identify them) are the aforementioned side 1 clicks, mostly on A4 with a couple at the very start of A5). That apart the sound quality really is impressive with great tone and clarity and bordering on excellent for 90% of the play, with some great tracks (for me side 2 is exceptional from start to finish with every track an absolute corker!).   Comes with great condition poly-lined Vertigo Swirl inner sleeve, dated as 1970 so I can't guarantee that his swirl inner originated from this LP - either way it is most definitely an original -  with no seam splits, some creasing in one corner, and barely any age discoluration at all.
Clearly some blemishes but still desirable, still collectable, and certainly a great listen with the audio quality being a real highlight. One of the hardest UK Vertigo swirls to get hold of.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £13 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £19 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
