HORACE SILVER and THE JAZZ MESSENGERS - s/t

Great condition copy of this highly collectable US Blue Note 1956 1st press rarity

Year/Label : 1956 US BLUE NOTE
Label number : BLP 1518
Matrix numbers :  BN-LP-1518-A, BN-LP-1518-B with "RVG", "9M" and Plastylite "ear" each hand etched on the dead wax area on both sides
Glossy and nice black sheen solid very good plus (VG+) condition (many would grade as "excellent" I am sure) weighty vinyl, completely flat and with the only marks being some very faint and wispy hairlines and very light paper scuff marks on each side - not obvious when viewed in normal daylight, purely superficial, and only really detectable when viewed at close hand in a bright light and with the vinyl tilted to the correct angle.  Each label is excellent with the only blemishes being a few small and extremely faint spindle lines adjacent to the centre hole on each label and just the hint of some faint blue ink smudging on the side 1 label adjacent to the words "LONG PLAYING" (see photos). Note the "LEXINGTON AVE NYC" text on each label along with a circular deep groove on each label - each synonymous with earliest Blue Note pressings.  Very good plus (VG+) condition and highly presentable original thick cardboard outer sleeve with all of the colours, art work, photos and text remaining impressively intact. Each edge remains firm with some minor intermittent light scuffing, a little more pronounced on the corners with the bottom right corner scuff having been discreetly coloured in with a blue felt tip. Nevertheless each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with just the hint of some very minor compression on the bottom right corner, and there is no fraying on either of the opening edges. The reverse side is equally impressive with just a few very light and small age/storage/handling marks and there is some neat writing towards the top left pertaining to venue and dates of when these tracks were recorded. Note the "767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" address at the bottom of the reverse side of the outer sleeve - another very 1st press identifier.  Excellent (EX) "high fidelity" MONO audio quality with no clicks, skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, interference or distortion. Background crackle is virtually non-existent with great tone and crystal clear audio quality throughout - superb! Every track remains a great listen with legendary musicians Kenny Dorham (trumpet), Hank Mobley (tenor sax), Horace Silver (piano), Doug Watkins (bass), and Art Blakey (drums) at the very top of their game. Comes with excellent condition poly-lined "music note" inner sleeve. Hard to believe that this record is 67 years old.   Timeless earliest press jazz gem worthy of gracing any serious jazz vinyl collection.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £5 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £13 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £19 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
