Artist: The Crystals Title: Twist Uptown Label/Number: Philles DT-90722 (M) Jacket condition: G Record condition: G Notes: This LP is rare but, although it plays fairly well, it looks pretty rough with lots of scuffs and scratches. There is also an interesting combination of elements between the cover and the record. The cover is a Canadian issued version "Manufactured and Distributed in Canada by Quality Records Limited" as noted on the back cover. The cover shows considerable wear with a vertical crease across the middle, some ring wear and some seam and corner wear. There is also a "bb" hole punched in the middle of the cover. And, it is a "MONO" cover. The issue date for the cover should be circa 1962. The record, however, is a U.S. pressing issued by the Capitol Record Club with the record club catalog number. It is a Duophonic version and dates to circa 1966. I have no idea how the cover and record came together since I didn't get the combination from the original owner. In any case, the labels are in nice condition with a few light spindle marks. The vinyl has good gloss but, as noted, it has lots of light surface scratches that warrant grading it down considerably to G. As noted, it plays pretty well. It has a few small, "feelable" scratches that cause a few ticks, and there is also a little bit of surface noise. Grading: Grading is usually only visual for VG+ or better items, although if time allows I may play to verify the quality of a pressing or just to hear the music. VG items are usually only listed if they are fairly hard-to-find items and are always play graded. Regardless of the grade, if I do play the LP, I note the results in the item description. I use Goldmine standards with Ebay's EX grade added for items NOT QUITE up to NM. Please read the notes above as I try to note anything that might influence the grading one way or another. I try to be conservative and grade as though I were buying the record and hope my feedback speaks well for my grading. Mono (M) or Stereo (S) is noted after catalog number. Don't hesitate to e-mail questions. Mailing and costs: Domestic shipping is via USPS, media mail with delivery confirmation. I ship in cardboard mailers made specifically for records with additional cardboard pads for added protection. Shipping and handling charges are a flat $5.00 for the first LP and $.50 per additional LP. Overseas shipping is via USPS First Class Mail International. Cost will be as calculated based upon destination. I always mail in a poly sleeve with the record outside the jacket. If there's an original inner sleeve I also remove the record from that and put it in a plain sleeve for mailing. That way, there are no seam splits on either the jacket or the sleeve due to any handling in the mail. I'm always happy to combine shipping costs for multiple purchases.
