LED ZEPPELIN - s/t (1st album)

1969 UK 2nd press Led Zep debut with early A1/B1 matrices and plum & red labels

Year/Label : 1970 UK ATLANTIC Label number : STEREO 588171 Matrix numbers : 588171 A//1 / 588171 B//1  (3rd digit crossed out on each side & replaced with hand etched "8") Stampers :  1 2 3 7  /  1  27
A very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - flat and weighty vinyl with impressive jet black sheen on each side and it is only upon close inspection under a bright light that a number of faint paper scuffs come into view on each side, along with the occasional wispy hairline and a 2cm slightly more noticeable scuff mark on side 2 - all appearing to be surface only and purely superficial, however, and certainly nothing feelable and barely affecting the excellent stereo sound quality. Clearly this is a record that has been reasonably well played but has also been well looked after and has a lot of plays left!  Each label is excellent with all black text upon the iconic red, maroon and white Atlantic label backgrounds remaining perfectly intact, the only blemishes being a few very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label.  The condition of the original fully laminated MacNeill Press outer sleeve is very good plus (VG+). The edges remain firm with no scuffing at all, the early "pinched ends" spine is rigid with all spine text nicely in place, the corners remain almost perfectly defined right angles with barely any rubbing at all, and the opening edges are firm with no fraying at all. There is a light (but noticeable) diagonal crease towards the front side bottom left corner, a further light crease on the reverse side towards the top right corner, and a few small areas of light laminate lifting adjacent to the spine edge on each of the front and reverse sides - all relatively minor. Eminently presentable and, of course, fully functional still.  The audio quality is excellent (EX) with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, interference or distortion. You may come across the odd very, very light random background click and any background crackle is at a minimum - very occasional (during a couple of the intermissions and two or three of the quieter moments), very light and background, and not intrusive. Great tone and great clarity throughout - timeless, with every track a great listen.  Comes with poly-lined "PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS" outer sleeve with some creasing and looking reasonably well used. Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new poly-lined plain white inner sleeve for shipping purposes in order to protect the original.
One of the truly great rock LP's - timeless tracks and the STEREO audio quality on this copy is a real highlight.
