Released as a Double A-Side single in the US on October 6th, 1969, "Something" and "Come Together" reached #1. From their 1969 studio album Abbey Road, "Something" was written by George Harrison. Together with his second contribution to Abbey Road, "Here Comes the Sun", it is widely viewed by music historians as having marked Harrison's ascendancy as a composer to the level of the Beatles' principal songwriters, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Two weeks after the album's release, the songs were issued on a double A-side single, making "Something" the first Harrison composition to become a Beatles A-side and his first song to top the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the United States
The AA-Side: "Come Together" is a song written by John Lennon and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. The song is the opening track on the 1969 released album Abbey Road. Lennon later referred to "Come Together" as "..one of my favourite Beatles tracks. It's funky, it's bluesy, and I'm singing it pretty well."
