KING CRIMSON - IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING

A lovely condition copy of this 1969 earliest UK 1st press prog gem

Year/Label : 1969 UK ISLAND Label number : ILPS-9111 Matrix numbers :  ILPS 9111 A 2, ILPS 9111 B // 2 Stampers :  1 4 / 1 5
Solid very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - flat, weighty and retaining an impressive jet black sheen with a few small and very light surface scuff marks and non-obvious hairlines on each side, each non-feelable and appearing to be superficial only. On "Moonchild" there is the inevitable occasional very light click - barely intrusive at all.   Excellent (EX) condition labels with rarer 1st press rough surface and circular groove on each. There is some very minor wear adjacent to the centre hole and some very faint spindle trails on each label but these blemishes are once again very trivial.  Very good plus (VG+) condition E.J. Day gatefold outer sleeve with firm edges, though there is some intermittent mild but clearly noticeable scuffing on each edge, slightly more pronounced towards the corners. The corners themselves remain nicely right angled though there is mild rubbing on each, and the opening edges remain firm with no fraying. The interior of the gatefold is truly excellent with all of the iconic artwork (both on the outside and interior) remaining in great shape, as is the interior text. Indeed the only other blemishes are some very trivial and non-obvious handling/storage marks on the rear side along with just the hint of some very mild ring wear towards the bottom right corner of the rear side.  Excellent (EX) stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, obvious clicks, distortion, or interference and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum, barely noticeable, and only very occasional during a couple of the quieter moments. On "Moonchild" there is the occasional very light click and a tiny manufacturing dimple (see photo) resulting in 3 consecutive very light rotational "dull" clicks, each hardly audible but they are there if you listen very carefully. In summary overall excellent sound quality throughout with each and every track remaining a great listen. Comes with original poly-lined inner sleeve with no side splits, some mild creasing towards the corners along with equally mild age discolouration towards the edges and the all important very 1st press "U.K. Patent No..." blue text at the bottom right corner. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.    A brilliant UK 1st press copy of this 1969 classic - an essential addition to any serious prog vinyl collection!
