A – SlideJimmy Eat World is an American band from , , formed in 1993. The band is comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist Jim Adkins, guitarist and backing vocalist Tom Linton, bassist Rick Burch and drummer Zach Lind.
Jimmy Eat World has released six in over 16 years as a band, the last five featuring the current lineup. The band originally formed with a sound, first releasing a demo tape in 1993, followed by their first in 1994, titled . Their debut self-titled album () was released in 1994, with current guitarist Linton singing most of the lead vocals on the album. Jimmy Eat World released both their second and third albums through , with 1996's featuring their first single "Rockstar". in 1999 contained the single "", which was featured in the film , starring .
The four piece's commercial breakthrough came in 2001 with the successful release of several singles from the album , four singles charted within the top 20 of the , "" peaked at number one. Jimmy Eat World followed up with in 2004, featuring another Modern Rock Tracks number one, "". The certified Bleed American platinum and Futures gold, rewarding the two albums for selling over one and a half million records between them. The band's sixth album was released in 2007, becoming the band's highest charting album, peaking at number five on the .
History Formation and origin of nameJimmy Eat World formed in , in 1994. Singer/guitarist Jim Adkins and drummer Zach Lind, who had been friends since kindergarten, joined with guitarist Tom Linton and bass player Mitch Porter to try their hand at music. In its early years, the band emulated the style of its punk-rock influences, with Linton serving as their primary singer. Within the span of a couple of years, the band recorded and released three singles and a full-length on local label Wooden Blue Records.
The band's name came from a crayon drawing made after an incident between Linton's younger brothers, Jim and Ed, who fought frequently. Jim usually won, but Ed got his revenge by drawing a picture of Jim shoving the Earth into his mouth; the picture bore the caption "Jimmy eat world".
Christie Front Drive was an American Emo/Indie band formed in in 1993. Citing influences such as , , and , the lineup consisted of Ron Marschall (drums), Jason Begin (guitar), Kerry McDonald (bass) and (guitar and vocals).
HistoryThe band released a self-titled EP and a 7" on in 1994. The two Freewill Records albums and several 7" were later combined and released as a self-titled full length album (commonly referred to as ""). In 1995, Christie Front Drive released split records with , Sineater, and . They also contributed to several compilation albums including (Don't Forget To) Breathe from . The band broke up in 1997 and their only official full length, a self-titled album commonly called "Stereo," was released posthumously by .
Despite their short tenure, Christie Front Drive became a major influence on emo music in the 90's. resurfaced in the bands Antarctica, The 101, and Golden City, and both Marschall and Begin went on to form The Blue Ontario. Marschall was also credited as an engineer on the 's album, . Jason Begin is currently performing under the name as well as the Portland based band and the random appearance with . Bassist Kerry McDonald would go on to form The Mighty Rime, who released a on Caulfield Records in 2002.
Christie Front Drive reunited on September 1, 2007 at the Marquis Theater in Denver as part of . All four original members participated. home of Eric Richter's current band Golden City, announced plans to re-release the entire Christie Front Drive discography. The label began with releasing a remastered version of their final self-titled album (also known as Stereo) on June 15, 2010 along with a DVD of the bands final show in 1996.
