Seattle legend
WOODY CARR!
Two scarce 45s by this trailblazing Seattle singer:
MY WOMAN (by Woody Carr and The El Caminos)/TRICK BAG (by The Artesians) (Norton 838); and
PEACE DANCE/UNDECIDED WOMAN (by Woody Carr) (Jerden 924, reissue of 1970 original). Both 45s are UNPLAYED MINT gems!
"The bridge between the Northwest rock revolution and the Northwest funk phenomenon is Woody Carr." - notes to Wheedle's Groove box set.
An extravaganza on two soulful slabs of wicked wax! My Woman is a rocked-up Northwest classic, with Woody providing the funky lead vocal for his all-white backing band The El Caminos (seen in the picture above; sometimes billed as The Entertainers). This is the B-side of a sizzlin' workout of Earl King's Trick Bag by The Artesians (who are these guys?). A killer 45 for your northern soul collection!
The 2nd single is from the highly acclaimed Wheedle's Groove set of ten 45s issued in 2011. The A-side was written by the legendary Ron Holden, whose Love You So was one of the first northwest R&B hits. Peace Dance actually quotes the first few lines of the Gettysburg Address, and makes it funky!
Here's UNPLAYED MINT gems of two scarce Woody Carr 45s. The Jerden reissue is rare...only 2000 of the Wheedle's Groove sets were released worldwide...
...don't miss it!
