THE ISLEY BROTHERS - 3+3  this LP has a 2 inch seam split on one side of the gatefold jacket underneath the sealed item other then that in pristine condition.

As influential in its own way as early '70s efforts by Sly and the Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, and Marvin Gaye, the Isley Brothers' 3+3 took black music to the next level. Combining frontline vocalists O'Kelly, Ronald, and Rudolph with the instrumental chops of younger brothers Ernie and Marvin, plus brother-in-law Chris Jasper, the group broke out with the smoking single "That Lady," featuring Ernie's Hendrixian guitar. They followed it up with some soulful re-workings of rock songs of the moment (which, as luck would have it, all turned into certified classics), including the Doobie Brothers' "Listen to the Music," Seals and Crofts's "Summer Breeze," and James Taylor's "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight." It's hard to imagine now how daring a strategy that was at the time, but the results sounds as fine today as ever

THE ISLEY BROTHERS - BETWEEN THE SHEETS

The Isleys came back with this, their last #1 R&B Album for 18 years. The best thing about this album is that everyone in the group is front and center. Rudolph's and O'Kelly's backing vocals are the best they've ever been. Too often in the previous albums they would be drowned out by the burning funk cooked up by the younger 3. This is a nice change as the Isleys once again sounded like a vocal group while still being a band.

The first side is all love songs. "Choosey Lover" and "I Need Your Body" are the best of the bunch, the latter just being just short of perfection as Ronald provides stellar lead vocals, Chris goes into Barry White mode as he does a little "rap" at the end, Ernie's guitar and the backing vocals convey the urgency of the song and Marvin's bass keeps rumbling along as usual. But the second side is filled with killer funk and protest songs. "Slow Down Children" and "Ballad For The Fallen Soldier" burn with as much anger as "Fight The Power", "The Pride" and "Livin' In The Life". They cap things off with the rockin' instrumental "Rock You Good".

This album was the most cohesive the Isleys put out in their 3+3 era. It seemed they had finally recaptured their sound and updated it for the 80's. Too bad this was to be their swan song as the younger 3 bolted to form Isely Jasper Isley. This album only makes you wonder what could have been.

The album This Old Heart Of Mine from The Isley Brothers was originally released in 1966. This 50th Anniversary Edition is pressed on 180g Heavyweight Vinyl and features the songs "Take Some Time Out For Love", "I Hear A Symphony", 'I Guess I'll Always Love You", and more. The title song has been covered by many artists through the years including Rod Stewart in 1975. In 1990, Ronald Isley and Rod Stewart released a Top 10 duet version of the song.

The 1966 single "This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak For You) peaked at number 6 in the US R&B charts.

Initially influenced by gospel and doo-wop music, the group later began experimenting with elements of rock and funk music as well as pop balladry. 

The album is released as a part of the UMe Respect The Classics campaign, and on vinyl for the first time in over 20 years.

THE ISLEY'S LIVE DOUBLE LP LIMITED EDITION SET - The Isley Bros took 5 awesome tunes from other bands and made them all so much better! "Too Late" from Carly Simon is dreamily long, and you'll even want it to keep going (over 12 minutes long). Their rendition of "Love The One You're With" by CSN&Y is less country than the original. This one is lively and energetic. "Lay Lady Lay" from Bob Dylan is a beautiful improvement, better voice, better delivered, alive (and over 7 minutes long). "Ohio" by Neil Young is blended with the jagged "Machine Gun" by Jimi Hendrix, and is 12.5 minutes long! I listen to this blazing and passionate one over and over! They even decided to change the direct references to "Nixon" who was "running" for President again at about that time.  

Hey, if you don't like longer-live rock, don't buy a live album. If you like live albums because the songs get extended and livened up, this one is awesome!
