Like most African-American vocal groups of the era, The Moonglows were exploited by promoters & managers in the mid-'50s. Harvey Fuqua had to split the songwriting credit for his 1955 signature hit Sincerely with DJ/svengali Alan Freed. As if that wasn't bad enough, their single of the iconic tune topped out at #20 while the whiter-than-white cover version by The McGuire Sisters was a #1 smash for an awesome 10 weeks. Harvey (presumably) got songwriting royalties as a result (half of them, anyway), but the McGuires' version didn't do anything for the other 4 Moonglows, including legendary lead singer Bobby Lester.
2 of the other songs on this pair of collectible 45s were lesser hits for the group: Please Send Me Someone To Love reached #73 in 1957 & The Ten Commandments Of Love made #22 in 1958.
